Barn props
A set of barn-themed, game-ready props, made using the high-to-low-poly workflow
With this project, my focus was on creating a thematically and visually cohesive collection of game-ready assets, all utilizing a shared texture atlas. Although geometry count was not that important for me here, I did try to optimize it still by utilizing a high-to-low-poly workflow, coupled with alpha masks for areas where real geometry would have no benefit.
Since this was my first project using a texture atlas, I opted for a simple combination of 3 textures: wood, rusted metal and rubber. In order to bring out some additional details, I baked the normal map and ambient occlusion data separately for each asset in Substance Painter, and parametrized them in the master material inside Unreal Engine, replacing them with per-mesh data in material instances.
